Welcome!

All are welcome at First Congregational Church of Oroville!  We invite you to worship with us on Sunday mornings at 10 AM, and to stay for coffee and conversation in our Social Hall.  We are here to grow in faith, hope, and love.  Our approach to Christian living is well summarized in the words of Micah 6:8:  "To do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God."  Our worship services are friendly and informal.  Our Director of Music and pianist provides a wonderful a mix of traditional and contemporary music.

Our Pastor, the Reverend Paul Clay, studied at Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley and has served chruches in California, Oregon, and Washington.  Pastor Paul is a genuinely caring person who takes time to listen and understand.  He is a thoughtful and inspiring preacher, and an insightful and open minded Bible teacher.  He is the Moderator of the Sacramento Valley Association of the United Church of Christ, and a delegate to the denomination's national meeting in June of 2007.

We offer an excellent range of programs and opportunities for older adults:  Thoughtful preaching, Bible study,  a year-round craft group for our Christmas Dazzle, a quilting group called Blazing Needles, a choir, and an active Women's Fellowship.  The men of our church meet on the third Saturday of most months for breakfast with the men of St. Paul's Episcopal church.  We are planning and preparing for a new beginning with families, parents, and children.  Our youth group is small, but we have a great time and accomplish great things.

This year (2007), First Congregational Church of Oroville celebrates its 150th Anniversary.  We carry this
tradition forward with faith, hope, and love, and we look ahead to good times and new friends.

We are thankful to be a part of the United Church of Christ.
